Children's Quiet Day

Salisbury and Gloucester Dioceses met at St Denys Retreat Centre, Ivy House, Warminster for a wonderful Children’s Quiet Day reflecting on the story of Elijah.

On Saturday the 9th of May 9 people from parishes in Salisbury and Gloucester Dioceses met at St Denys Retreat Centre, Ivy House, Warminster for a wonderful Children’s Quiet Day reflecting on the story of Elijah.

We think that this is the first retreat especially for children and are delighted with both the day and the feedback. Nine children aged from 8-11 silently took part in various activities through the day including three rooms exploring earthquake, wind and fire ending with time and space to think about the still small voice and to worship God.

This was a joint project written especially for the day by Sandra Millar the Gloucester Children’s Officer and Barbara Meardon the Salisbury Diocese Children’s Adviser.

Feedback from the day will be used to produce a version for use in parishes. The children wanted to know when the next one was...watch this space....
