Let the Children Come
On May the 2nd the Cathedral welcomed over 250 children and their families from around the Diocese to celebrate the Year of the Child.
On a beautiful day when picnics and parachute games could be enjoyed on the lawns around, the Cathedral welcomed over 250 children and their families from around the Diocese and beyond to a lovely day exploring the lives of children and their spiritual journeys.
Everyone enjoyed working round the eight stations which had been designed and set up by Sarah Rickett (Cathedral Head of Education) and Barbara Meardon (Children’s Adviser). They took part in various activities including making a beautiful collage at the font and an altar frontal of crosses to be used at the afternoon service led by Barbara Meardon which was a truly joyous act of worship.
Feedback included how welcoming the day was, that the stations could be accessed by all ages and how there was time for fun and prayer. Some French visitors commented on how alive the Cathedral was.
Barbara and Sarah would like to thank everyone from the Board of Education and Cathedral who gave up their Saturday to help and a special thank you to the children who took part.
A pack explaining everything you need to run your own ‘Let the Children Come' event is to be published in June and preorder forms are available from barbara.meardon@salisbury.anglican.org
